Vasily’s father’s death in 1953 was a turning point in his life. He lost his authority and developed a severe alcohol problem. He was arrested and sent to prison, but was later granted clemency. He spend the rest of his life between imprisonment and hospitalization until he died in 1962.<\/p>\n
