In the end, even that was not enough. Saddam was convinced of his own invincibility and provoked an American invasion. He lost both his power and his life.<\/p>\n

Saddam Hussein was an Iraqi politician and dictator who served as the fifth president of Iraq from 16 July 1979 until 9 April 2003. He was overthrown in the 2003 invasion of Iraq and was captured by U.S. forces in December of that year. Saddam was tried by an Iraqi court and executed on 30 December 2006.<\/p>\n
