Saddam’s half brother and Iraq’s former chief judge were also sentenced to death. These crimes included willful killing, illegal imprisonment, deportation, and torture. This is a major victory for the Iraqi people and for justice.<\/p>\n

Rouf Rashid Abd al-Rahman was born in 1941 and is the replacement chief judge of the Supreme Iraqi Criminal Tribunal’s Al-Dujail trial of Saddam Hussein in 2006. He sentenced Saddam and some of his top aides to death by hanging. Judge Rouf oversaw the Iraqi High Tribunal May 2006.<\/p>\n
